Bidh Ceòlas a’ tabhann cothrom air leth air eòlas a chur air dualchas beò ann an coimhearsnachd bheairteach Ghàidhlig. Tha a’ bhuidheann a’ comharrachadh, ag adhartachadh agus a’ leasachadh ceòl traidiseanta, cànan, cultar agus dualchas, a’ co-obrachadh le coimhearsnachdan ionadail, nàiseanta is eadar-nàiseanta aig a bheil na h-aon ùidhean coitcheann.

- A’ cumail suas agus neartachadh cheanglaichean eadar Uibhist a Deas agus Ceap Breatainn, agus le coimhearsnachdan Ceilteach eile.
- A’ lìbhrigeadh oideachadh àrd-inbhe bho luchd-ealain proifeasanta barraichte, agus a’ dèanamh cinnteach gum bi ionnsachadh agus teagasg sàr-mhath dha na h-uile.
- A’ co-roinn ar n-eòlas ann an lìonrachadh agus cur air dòigh thachartasan do bhuidhnean eile anns na h-ealain leithid thèatar, ceòl, dannsa agus film.
Bho chaidh a stèidheachadh ann an 1996 le Hamish Moore le taic bho Phròiseact nan Ealan, tha Ceòlas air fàs bho bhith na sgoil chiùil is dannsa fad seachdain gu bhith air aon de na prìomh bhuidhnean cultair, dualchais agus ealain na Gàidhlig ann an Alba. Tha prìomh àite aig Ceòlas ann an ath-bheothachadh sòisealta is cultarail nan eilean agus tha e dealasach a bhith a’ cur ri cultar beòthail na Gàidhlig do na ginealaichean ri teachd.

'I am delighted to be involved with the work of Ceòlas, especially at this time with the 30th anniversary of the organisation. So much has happened since Ceòlas and the summer school started. It's fantastic to see the progress and work that has been done and also what is to come - not just in Uist or the mainland but around the world. Without mentioning the great excitement for the new facilities in Cnoc Soilleir. None of this would be possible without the help of the community and staff that have done incredible work. It is great to be working with such a capable team.'
