We are delighted to announce the appointment of Peggy Ann MacMillan as Ceannard of Ceòlas Uibhist Ltd.
Peggy Ann has been part of Ceòlas since 2009 and, since taking on the role of Interim Operations Manager on 28 July 2025, has played a central role in supporting and developing the organisation through a busy and successful year. Following the successful completion of her probationary period and a year of strong performance, the Board is pleased to confirm her appointment as Ceannard.
During her time as Interim Operations Manager, Peggy Ann has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the organisation, its staff, and the wider community. She has also undertaken management training and received ongoing mentoring through the HIE IMPACT Women programme, which supports leadership and growth among women-led businesses.
Peggy Ann said:
“Taking part in the course has given me the confidence to step into a leadership role and believe in my own abilities. Through the programme, I have developed new skills, gained valuable knowledge, and had the opportunity to reflect on my strengths and the kind of leader I want to be. It has encouraged me to communicate more confidently, support my team effectively, and approach challenges with a positive and proactive mindset.
As I move into this exciting role as Ceannard of Ceòlas, I feel much more prepared and confident. I know there will always be new challenges to face, but I now have the confidence to embrace them and continue learning and growing as a leader.
Ceòlas has been an important part of my life for the past 19 years, and I have seen first-hand the positive impact it has on our community and the people we work with. I am incredibly honoured to have been given this opportunity to lead the team and contribute to the organisation in a new way. I am grateful for everything I have learned through this course and look forward to putting those skills into practice as I begin this new chapter in my career.”
Peggy Ann has provided steady and positive leadership, guiding the team through an ambitious programme of activities and events. Under her direction, Ceòlas has continued to grow and thrive, delivering a range of successful projects, including the highly successful Ceòlas 2026 Summer School. Her ability to support staff, build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation has been invaluable.
Isabell MacInnes, Chair of the Board, said:
“We have all been impressed by Peggy Ann’s enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication to the values and vision of Ceòlas. Her passion for the culture, language, and communities we serve is evident in everything she does, and she has earned the respect and support of colleagues, tutors, volunteers, and partners alike.”
As Peggy Ann takes on the role of Ceannard, we look forward to building on recent successes and continuing to strengthen and develop Ceòlas for the future. We are excited to have her leading the organisation into its next chapter and wish her every success in her new role.
