’S e an t-amas sònraichte a th’ aig Ceòlas, tron Sgoil Shamhraidh agus tachartasan eile, ceòl nan Gàidheal ath-cheangal ris am freumhan Gàidhlig. Tha Uibhist a Deas na dhaingneach airson cànan is ceòl nan Gàidheal agus na àite air leth freagarrach airson seo.
Bidh sinn a’ cur fàilte air ceòl traidiseanta barraichte, a thuilleadh air a bhith a’ toirt chothroman do thàlant òg ionadail gus an ath ghinealach de luchd-ciùil Gàidhlig a bhrosnachadh.
Tha an Sgoil Shamhraidh (sgoil shamhraidh Ghàidhlig is chiùil a th’ aig Ceòlas gach bliadhna) a’ tabhann oideachadh ann an raon de dh’innealan-chiùil. Bidh na clasaichean fìdhle againn a’ gabhail a-steach nòsan Albannach is Cheap Breatainn agus bidh sinn a’ tabhann measgachadh de theagasg pìobaireachd le Ceòl Mòr, òrain phìobaireachd agus pìobaireachd airson clasaichean dannsa. Bidh sinn cuideachd a’ tabhann chlasaichean clàrsaich is pìobaireachd is fìdhle òigridh.
A bharrachd air cluich ceòl, bidh sinn cuideachd a’ tabhann bhùthan-obrach, òraidean agus tachartasan eile tron t-seachdain far an ionnsaich thu barrachd mu eachdraidh a’ chiùil agus na ceanglaichean eadar òran, ceòl, dannsa agus cànan.
Throughout the week we host concerts, cèilidhs, pub sessions and house cèilidhs. If you want to visit Uist and experience traditional music, this is definitely the week to do it!
Cooperation will consist of preservation and transmission of intangible cultural heritage of the areas, folk music research, festival activities, pedagogical cooperation and materials and development of cultural tourism.
The purpose of the project entails upholding and reviving cultural life and cultural tradition, social links between generations, cultural tourism according to the principles of sustainable development, and adding national and international collaboration in these fields.

The project received support through the Western Isles Development Fund, the local Councillors and the Co-op, and provided weekly tuition in the button box and fiddle to 50 children in Uist.

”Allan shared a lifetime of insight about òrain phìobaireachd, all while cracking jokes in Gàidhlig, French, and English. Felt like three years of studying Gàidhlig and smallpipes built up to this.
