Online Gaelic Classes

2026 - 2027 Term

Ceòlas Gaelic classes and courses give you the opportunity to learn Gaelic as spoken in the islands, from fluent local and native-speaking tutors. We aim to help you gain confidence in speaking and using Gaelic, as well as connect with the Gaelic community, language and culture in Uist.

We run traditional online classes each year, along with special conversation-focussed classes and Misneachd gu Fileantas / Return to Fluency classes for ex-GME and lapsed speakers.

Our 2026 – 2027 block of online Gaelic classes have already started. Please join our mailing list or contact gaelic@ceolas.co.uk if you would like to join a class at a later date.

We run blocks of Scottish Gaelic classes for learners in South Uist during the winter months. Come along and learn and use your Gaelic with our expert tutors!

Our winter classes will be running in conjuction with Fèis Tìr a’ Mhurain evening classes – more information coming soon!

Gaelic Immersion Courses

Immersion in the Isle of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides!

Ceòlas offer unique immersion courses in South Uist, a majority Gaelic-speaking community. With the help of local native tutors and community members, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Gaelic, using the language each day in a range of every-day contexts.

From cèilidhs to peatcutting, Uist is the perfect place to take your Gaelic learning journey to the next level, and gain a rounded understanding of Gaelic language and culture.

If you are part of a Gaelic group, e.g. choir, class, student group, we can tailor a programme of weekend or week-long learning and activities for you – get in touch!

Currently, Ceòlas partner with the University of Glasgow for their Bliadhna Bhogaidh (Immersion Year) course and An Clas Camelon to provide immersion opportunities in Uist.

Our Sgoil Shamhraidh (summer school) is the perfect environment to learn and use Gaelic, with tuition in music, Gaelic language, song and step dance.
